Nym Delegations Program update

Nym Delegations Program update

Over the course of the past weeks, community node mentors completed the first major audit of the Nym Delegations Program. In this post I will share:

  • the minimum hardware specifications and slightly updated entry requirements of the program,
  • the queue status and actions taken,
  • and the slightly updated rules of the delegations program.

Minimum hardware specifications and entry requirements

Your node has to meet the following hardware specifications to enter the Delegations Program:

| CPU | 4 cores |
| memory | 4 GB |
| storage | 40 GB |
| connectivity | IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, UDP |
| monthly bandwidth | 1 Tb |
| port speed | 1 Gbps |

To register your node to the Delegations Program, it has to meet the following slightly adjusted entry requirements:

| maximum profit margin | 20% |
| maximum operator cost | 800 NYM |
| minimum routing score | 90% |
| maximum stake saturation | 50% |
| IPv4 and IPv6 | enabled and correctly configured |
| hardware config endpoint | enabled |
| terms and conditions | accepted |

:warning: Important: to participate in the Delegations Program, you need to accept the operator terms and conditions. Read more here!:warning:

Queue status and actions taken

123 nodes are currently in the Delegations Program. Currently there are no nodes in the queue, as all eligible nodes received delegations of 250k NYM tokens each from the Nym Treasury.

39 nodes lost delegations for one of the following reasons:

  • failing to register for the Delegations Program
  • not meeting the minimum hardware specifications or entry requirements (see above)
  • severe performance issues

41 registrations were marked as invalid for one of the following reasons:

  • not meeting the minimum hardware specifications or entry requirements (see above)
  • severe performance issues

Note: if your registration is invalid or your node lost delegations, make sure to read the minimum hardware specifications and entry requirements above carefully. Once your node meets these requirements, your node may join the queue. Contact a program mentor for assistance!

:scroll: Program rules

All program participants must follow these basic rules at all times.

:one: Active participation is required - this is not a set-and-forget program. As a participant, it is your responsibility to keep up with the news and make sure your node is in appropriate shape. Keep a close eye on the announcements matrix channel at all times.

:two: Performance and reliability are key! Your node stats will be monitored, and repeated poor performance, downtime, or other such issues may result in your termination from the program.

:three: Honesty and fairness are non-negotiable. Dishonest behaviour such as suddenly raising your operating cost or profit margin will result in immediate termination.

:four: Your node must be updated regularly. If your node is more than two binary versions behind, it will lose delegations immediately without prior notice.

Queue priority

Program mentors may decide to prioritize or deprioritize nodes in the queue:

  • Nodes operated by squads or community contributors may be prioritized.
  • Nodes with exceptionally robust hardware specifications may be prioritized.
  • Nodes located in countries with many other nodes may be deprioritized.
  • Nodes located in countries with few other nodes may be prioritized.
  • Nodes running on common VPS providers may be deprioritized.
  • Nodes for social good may be prioritized.

:warning: Additionally, if an operator has multiple nodes in the delegations program, their queue priority may be reduced to favor other operators. In some cases, an operator with multiple nodes in the program may lose delegations to allow other operators to join the program.

Next steps

  • Delegations program registrations remain open - if you haven’t registered your node yet, you can always do so here.
  • expect more frequent updates about queue status, actions taken and more. Keep your eye on the relevant Matrix channels and join the conversation: announcements for must-know information and the node operator chat for updates, advice, questions and great vibes.
  • If your registration was invalid, you lost delegations, or you need help setting up/troubleshooting your node, reach out to a Mentor on matrix DMs or the dedicated channels (see above).
