Grant Application for the Development of the Board Game “Not Your Metadata” for NYM

This application is a request for a grant of 63,000 $NYM ($5,000) for the creation of the board game “Not Your Metadata,” aimed at popularizing the concepts of cybersecurity, privacy protection, and the principles of the NYM company. The project will be implemented with the involvement of a professional team of contractors and in accordance with the highest quality standards.

Project Goal:

The goal of this project is to develop and release a board game that will help convey important aspects of cybersecurity, data management, and privacy to a wide audience. “Not Your Metadata” will serve as a tool to raise awareness and promote the key ideas of NYM through an interactive and engaging format, with the possibility of being sold as merchandise.

Game Description:

“Not Your Metadata” is a game for 6-20 players that combines elements of role-playing, strategy, and survival in the face of digital threats. Players will take on roles such as cybersecurity specialists, technical experts, social engineers, and other characters united in the fight against the cyber threats posed to them.

The game reflects real challenges such as virus attacks, data breaches, social engineering, information noise, and more, fostering teamwork, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

Project Timeline:

The project is planned to be implemented within 6-12 weeks.

Project Team:

Beyond: Responsible for project coordination, communication with NYM, and ensuring the game meets corporate standards. In charge of developing the game concept, lore, mechanics, characters, action cards, and other game elements. Also responsible for sending 100 copies of the game to the company’s headquarters for further distribution as merchandise.

Designer: Responsible for the visual design of the game, including card design, box, instructions, and other game elements.

Printing House: A company that will ensure high-quality printing of the game in Ukraine, including the production of cards, boxes, and other related materials.

Videographer and Model: A team that will create an interactive version of the game rules narration, effectively replacing the game host with a digital assistant.

Preliminary Testing:

Before starting the project, we conducted a test of the game rules with a group of 15 people and received positive feedback. This allowed us to optimize the gameplay and ensure its appeal and educational potential.

Project Budget:

The total grant amount required for the project’s implementation is $5,000. Here is a detailed budget breakdown:

  1. Game Development and Testing:

• Beyond — $1,600.

• Development of the concept, mechanics, characters, scenarios, threats, action cards, and lore.

• Game testing with focus groups to ensure balance and engaging gameplay.

  1. Game Design:

• Designer — $1,000.

• Creation of the game’s visual design, including cards, box, instructions, and other elements.

  1. Promotional Materials:

• Videographer and Model — $200.

• Creation of video and photo materials for game promotion and presentations.

  1. Game Printing and Production:

• Printing House — $2,000.

• Printing 100 copies of the “NYM” game. The estimated cost per copy is $17-20, taking into account production in Ukraine.

  1. Logistics and Shipping:

• Logistics services — $200.

• Shipping the finished copies of the game to the NYM headquarters.

Project Outcomes:

As part of this project, 100 copies of the “Not Your Metadata” game will be produced and delivered to the NYM company’s headquarters. These copies can be used as merchandise for partners, clients, and employees, as well as an educational tool to raise awareness about cybersecurity and privacy.

Estimated Cost Per Copy:

The estimated cost of printing one copy of the “Not Your Metadata” game is $17-20 (excluding shipping).

We are confident that “Not Your Metadata” will be a valuable addition to the company’s corporate culture and will help spread the company’s key messages to a broader audience.
